DocumentorTM (AS/SET® Cross-Reference)

Documentor, the AS/SET cross-reference system, enables you to document your AS/SET applications and retrieve that information whenever you need it. Documentor allows AS/SET developers to concentrate on the application by producing user documentation almost automatically using several unique product features. With SET/TURN and Documentor together, AS/SET development will proceed more efficiently than ever before!

Documentor is a stand-alone cross-reference product for AS/SET, but when used along with TurnOver and SET/TURN, it allows you to analyze a proposed change more thoroughly, and understand its impact well before you start a development task. Here are some of the functions it provides:

  • Maps all panel layouts, panel level help text, field level help text and function key text for you.
  • Produces text files for importing into PC word-processing packages.
  • Produces source members for importing into iSeries text managers.
  • Generates its information directly from your AS/SET ADK application sets. By entering meaningful help text during application development, easy-to-read user documentation can be produced with minimal effort.

Developers will appreciate how easy it is to access AS/SET information; this is built behind the scenes by Documentor commands.

Product Support

SET/TURN uses standard AS/SET ADK Release 4.x processes and TurnOver application programming interfaces (APIs). AS/SET's import and export commands used by the interface are fully supported by SSA Inc.

SoftLanding Systems, Inc. fully supports the Documentor product.

Documentor Interface

Setup

All AS/SET object types are defined to TurnOver. Documentor supports all AS/SET object types; Field, File, Audit Trail, Action Subroutine, Data Model, Display program, Batch program, Report program and AS/SET help. These are activated for you during installation of the SET/TURN interface.

AS/SET applications are identified by TurnOver application definitions the same way your 3rd GL applications are defined. Any number of development steps (development-to-test, test-to-QA, and so on) is supported. Model application definitions are provided to help you quickly create your own application definitions.

If you distribute changes using TurnOver now, no additional setup is required to distribute AS/SET objects. If you are new to TurnOver, distribution to one or more production systems can be done efficiently and quickly.
