New Task Collaboration FeaturesBy Sandy King, Product Manager Have you ever wished you could add details to a task and notify the resource – without changing the task status? Or wished that you could know when a particular task has been updated or a new task added to one of your projects? Well, your wishes have come true with the June release of TurnOver 5.4! TurnOver’s new task collaboration features include Project Notifications, Task Subscriptions, and ad hoc task emails. Project Notifications can be set up by a Project Administrator to send an email to pertinent users based upon a predefined task condition such as a change in the details, resource, status, planned end date, and so forth. Unlike Notifications, which are unsolicited and set up only by Project Administrators, Task Subscriptions are deliberately requested by any user who needs to stay informed about a particular task (or about task activity for a particular requester or company). Of course, the user must have at least View authority for a project to subscribe to its tasks, and TurnOver also provides a view where you can easily see and manage your own subscriptions and notifications. Ad hoc emails, which you send while viewing or editing a task, can be useful when you need to obtain information or input from another resource or when you want to update another user, such as the requester, about a particular task’s unfolding issues. With these new collaboration features, it’s likely that you can greatly simplify your escalation tables to deal with actual escalation issues or specific events, such as notifying resources when tasks are overdue or informing requesters when their tasks are complete. Be sure to read the June Supplement to the TurnOver Release 5.4 Memo to Users on our support site for more details about task collaboration. Once you apply the June release, you’ll have access to our online help, which completely describes all of the new features. |
