Upgrading to V5R4By Sandy King, Product Manager IBM made its latest iSeries operating system (OS), V5R4, generally available on February 14, 2006. As a participant in IBM’s Early Release Program, we’ve been running V5R4 on one of our logical partitions since December 2005. The good news for SoftLanding customers is that all of our products are V5R4 compatible! That being said, if you plan to upgrade to V5R4, you need to be on the latest CD for your given product. For TurnOver 5.4 or TurnOver 5.3 customers, the March 2006 CD is the latest. When TurnOverSVN customers apply the March CD, we determine which version of TurnOverSVN to install based on your OS level (V5R4, versus V5R1 through V5R3). If you want more details about TurnOverSVN and V5R4, read task T06M 0091 in the March 2006 Release Notes. For a list of current release dates for all products, visit the home page of our customer support site. (After you sign in, page down and look for the current release list at the bottom of the page.) In general, we encourage all customers to stay current with IBM supported OS releases. Even though we create our CDs at OS level V5R1 as a courtesy to our customers, you should note that IBM discontinued support for V5R1 on September 30, 2005.
